Chicago Sunset Hot Air Balloon Rides

Sunset Hot Air Balloon Rides near Chicago, IL

Our most popular booking is for a sunset hot air balloon ride – and for good reason. Riding in a hot air balloon just before the sun sets over Chicagoland is one of the most peacefully beautiful experiences you can imagine. As the basket you’re riding in gracefully floats through the evening sky, you’ll observe the golden glow of the sun setting behind the horizon like you’ve never seen it before. This is 10 times more peaceful and serene than watching the sunset through an airplane window.

This once-in-a-lifetime experience awaits you when you book one of our hot air balloon rides at sunset. Call the number below to book your experience today.

Why Sunset Is a Great Time for a Hot Air Balloon Ride

Generally, the winds are very suitable for hot air ballooning during the time just before sunset. In Chicago and the surrounding areas, the air heats up during the daylight hours, making mid-day a dangerous time to be up in a hot air balloon. (Consistent and cool air temperatures make it easier to raise and lower the balloon.) This is why hot air balloon rides are optimal right before sunset when the air has cooled down. The other most optimal time frame is at sunrise, so we offer sunrise rides as well.

What Days Are Available to Book a Sunset Ride?

We offer sunset rides 7 days a week during peak ballooning season (June-August). You have the option of choosing a weekday ride (Mon-Th) or a weekend ride (Fri, Sat, Sun). Keep in mind that since weekend rides are our most popular option, you will be more likely to get a successful booking if you are open to taking a ride on Monday through Thursday.

When you call us at 312-820-9148 to set up your booking, we will ask you which day of the week you prefer. Bookings will be taken on a first-come first-served basis, according to what we have available. Call today to reserve your spot.

How Many People Can I Book Together?

The hot air balloon baskets that we are currently using have a capacity of six adults in addition to the pilot. You can book a ride for one, a ride for two people, or a ride for a larger group. To book a group of more than six people, ask us about our availability over the phone.

What Are the Age Requirements?

For safety considerations, we require participants to be at least 10 years of age. There is no maximum age requirement, but participants must be physically able to get in and out of the balloon basket by themselves. See more in our FAQs here.

Weather Considerations for a Sunset Hot Air Balloon Ride

Successful hot air balloon rides depend on pristine weather conditions. If our crew sees that the weather will be too windy on the day of your ride, or that storms will be approaching, we will contact you to reschedule your booking.

No one wants to see you have a successful ride more than us, so we only reschedule when there are safety concerns regarding the weather, and we always attempt to get you rescheduled as close as possible to the original date you selected. See more about the weather on our Frequently Asked Questions page here.

Our departure location is approximately 100 miles north of the Chicago Loop. If you have any questions before your ride, or even on the day of your ride, please call us at 312-820-9148 and we will help get you to the right place.
